Top 20 Romantic Movies?
The list below, courtesy of lovingyou.com, counts down what 1,500 people said were the Top 20 Most Romantic Movies. Now, this was a debate a few of my friends and I were having last night.
Of course, in the top 10 is Casablanca, Shakespeare in Love and Say Anything. I agree with the following list with When Harry Met Sally, although I think it should have been higher than 20. I also like Love Actually and Sleepless in Seattle. I pretty much like all of the movies on the list, but I disagree with the order, and the obvious ones that are missing!!
Here is the lovingyou.com list:
20. When Harry Met Sally
19. You've Got Mail
18. Moulin Rouge
17. Dirty Dancing
16. Love Actually
15. Somewhere in Time
14. An Affair To Remember
13. Serendipity
12. City of Angels
11. Love & Basketball
10. Romeo & Juliet
9. An Officer and a Gentleman
8. Gone With The Wind
7. Love Story
6. Sleepless in Seattle
5. A Walk To Remember
4. Pretty Woman
3. Ghost
2. Titanic
1. The Notebook
What do you think?

I totally think The Notebook was overrated. It was OK, but definitely not #1.
The Notebook is by far #1 and I think Cold Mountain should be #2. I can't believe it's not even on the list!
Ew! I watched Cold Mountain and I wasn't sure what all the hype was about...In fact, it took three times of starting it until I finally finished it! : )
I loved it. I mean didn't you get it? They waited all that time for each other and he fought so hard to get back to her. Then he died after just one night together. She ran to him as he lay dying in the snow and the last thing he said to her was ,"I came back". OMG, it was great.
"Cold Mountain" gets two thumbs up!!!!!! Beautiful love story : ))
Oh, I got it....but it seriously seemed to drag on forever. I think I fell asleep and woke up — only to find the exact same thing was going on!!
Two that I can watch over and over are Say Anything and Before Sunrise
reel fanatic: one of my bf's favorite movies is before sunrise. i have not seen that one, but i have seen before sunset.
They completely missed The Princess Bride, which is one of the only romantic movies my husband and I can get through without saying "what morons."
I love "City of Angels" & "Notebook", but tom, the most romantic movie ever is "Shakespeare In Love"
notebook,a walk to remember, and Keith best romantic movies ever
oh my gosh notebook is the most romantic movie of all time. I think somewhere in time should have been top 5, and so should serendipity. and your DEFINATLY forgetting my sassy girl! that is one of my favorites!
i dont know WHAT your thinking with the princess bride. that movie was so far from romantic, it can be shown in elementary school. it is chessy and had terrible acting!
i soo have to agree with anonymous person....the notebook, a walk to remember and keith are the best romantic films i have seen so far...
I think you all missed.."Loves Enduring Promise" and "Love comes Softly". Also, what about "As good as it Gets" with Dianne Keaton?
Unfortunately, the movies, "The Notebook," "A Walk to Remember," and "Message in a Bottle" did not come close to the passion and story that is held within the books. i.e., "The Walk" in the movie lasts 3 seconds, whereas in the book, he took 3 pages to describe "The Walk." Because I can visualize these three movies being better portrayed than they were - they are not on my list.
I think Like Water for Chocolate should be on the list. It is a beautiful story! Full of great recipes..that I've tried and they do work.
